Bella Italia: Firenze

Hi,

2 weeks ago I spent an awesome weekend in Italy. The first two days I spent in Florence, then one day at the beach in Marina di Torre del Lago Puccini and to end my short trip, I spent the last day in Pisa. Not only I was excited for Italy, but also to meet my friends from Seattle and Berlin.

I was especially very impressed by Florence – the artistic city with its many hidden corners was a true paradise for me.

After enjoying this awesome day in Florence, we had an awesome original Italian meal at a very cute restaurant at Piazza Santo Spirito.

Later in the evening there was a huge thunderstorm, and we had to wait at the Piazza della Signoria.

The second day, we had dinner on the rooftop of my friend’s apartment with a great view on Il Duomo di Firenze.

Have you spent some time in Florence? What was your favorite part about it? What do you enjoy most about the city?

Live in the moment

Change only happens in the present moment. The past is already done. The future is just energy and intention. – Kino MacGregor

Angkor Wat

Heyhey,

While traveling in Cambodia, you should definitely not miss Angkor. Angkor is north of Siem Reap – it’s very easy and fast to get there. Make sure, you’re wearing proper clothes, since you are visiting a temple.

First we visited Angkor Wat, which is also part of the World Heritage Site. I was confused, because Angkor Wat is only the name of the most famous temple – there are around 1000 temples on an area of 400 square kilometers called Angkor. We arrived at Angkor Wat later in the afternoon. Have a look at my impressions.

As you can see, I could not get enough of taking pictures 🙂 It was incredibly beautiful and magical. And so many hidden places and to take artistic pictures.

We have spent 2 hours to walk around the temple and then decided to wait a little bit longer to experience the sunset. I highly recommend to visit Angkor Wat at sunset.

Unfortunately we were not able to go on top of the temple, as it was closed on that day. So we decided to leave the main temple area and our breaths were taken away by this incredible scenery.

I was very surprised, when the friend of a monk started talking to me and asked to take a picture with him. I know not to look into monks eyes, but it’s so tempting, because they are so fascinating.

After returning to the Mad Monkey Hostel, we have decided to wake up the next morning at 5 am and to see the sunrise. Of course, we were not able to sleep during that night and after 3 hours of sleep it was already time to get up again. But it was absolutely worth it! And we were not the only one’s with the same idea 🙂

Finally we also went inside and met this cute Cambodian family. And one more time I was impressed by the friendliness and openness of the Cambodians.

After walking around for another two hours it was time to say good-bye to the beautiful and inspiring Angkor Wat.

Today would be Audrey Hepburn’s 85th Birthday. She is such an inspiration for today’s generation. I adore her look and her style – but most of all I am in love with what she said.

The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it’s all that matters. – Audrey Hepburn

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles. – Audrey Hepburn

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person. – Audrey Hepburn
